March is finally here and we’re ready for International Women’s Day! All across the globe, the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women are celebrated on March 8th. International Women’s Day has been ongoing for over a century, with the first gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. The day has officially been an official United Nations observance since 1975.
In conjunction with the celebration of women’s achievements, let’s get to know some of the SuperSHEroes at Hotel G Singapore.

Firstly, let’s get to know our Housekeeping Supervisor, Ain!
“My role model is my grandmother. I truly admire how she has managed to balance work and family, taking care of her 4 children and 11 grandchildren. Even now, at 68 years old she works tirelessly and is truly a superhero to me.”
“My greatest achievement would be winning 1st place in a housekeeping competition held at my previous employment. It was then that I realised that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.”
“You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best ones. If you really want to fly, just harness the power of your passion.”

Secondly, let’s find out more about our Reservations Manager, Shyidah.
“A female role model I look up to is Yasmin Mogahed. She is a motivational speaker based in the US and the first Muslim woman to become an instructor in AlMaghrib Institute (an Islamic studies institution based in Texas). Her virtual lectures and quotes have motivated me to pursue my studies and career, and gotten me through difficult times in my life.”
“Keep moving forward.”
“Stay strong, be kind, and love yourself above all else. Only compete with your past self and not others, you’ll outgrow yourself and the limits you’ve set in mind.”

Up next we have a familiar face at Ginett Restaurant and Wine Bar, Alla, F&B Operations Manager.
“Frida Kahlo is someone I look up to for her bravery and strength in painting her own reality above all odds. She broke barriers and is an amazing example of a strong woman.”
“In all honesty, I think my greatest accomplishment is being able to be myself. I’ve always struggled with how I’m perceived by others but over the years, I’ve learnt that I’m happiest when I’m authentically me. It sounds like a simple thing, but trust me, it took time and effort to get here.”
“Women may have been given fewer opportunities than men, but times are changing and this makes every achievement more valuable. Embrace the times we’re in!”

Meet Joyce Ting, our Human Resources Manager.
“Walk the talk, as actions speak louder than words. Practice what you preach, otherwise, your words will mean nothing.”
“One of my greatest achievements is to introduce inclusive hiring. Hiring and integrating kids with special needs allows our associates to be more empathetic. This helps to foster a working environment that embraces inclusivity.”
“Follow your heart and do what you love. Nothing is impossible – with passion and perseverance, success and fulfillment will follow suit.”

Last but not least, we have Thineswary (Pappa), our Senior Waitress.
“Personally, I’ve never wanted to be anybody but myself, which is why I look up to women who are 100% themselves; no disguise or keeping up with appearances.”
“Always exceed expectations!”
“Always trust your own ability, be confident, maintain strong ethics, never cheat or lie, believe in yourself, don’t bother about what others may have to say, always be willing to forgive.”
We are truly proud of the superSHEroes in our organisation who have attained great accomplishments and have been great examples to the people around them. So what is Hotel G Singapore doing to celebrate International Women’s day?
